By plane

Arrival at Cologne/Bonn Airport
Trains to Cologne main train station from the airport railway station (5 to 10 min. walk from Terminal D):

• City train "S13"
Travel time: approx. 15 min.
Departure: every 20 min. (5:24 hrs, 5:44 hrs, 6:04 hrs); after 21:04 hrs every 30 min.
Fare: 2.40 Euro (button 1b)


• Regional train "RE8"
Travel time: approx. 15 min.
Departure: every 60 min. (7:08 hrs, 8:08 hrs); until 21:08 hrs
Fare: 2.30 Euro (button 1b)

Arrival at Düsseldorf Airport
Trains to Cologne main train station from Düsseldorf terminal railway station

• Take train IC, ICE, RE, RB and/or City train to Cologne main train station (for departure times please see train timetables). Then continue as described under arrival at Cologne main train station.

By train

Arrival at Cologne main train station (Köln Hauptbahnhof)

• Take tube line #5 (direction Ossendorf), get off at stop Subbelrather Straße/Gürtel.
• Change here for bus #141 (direction Vogelsang) or bus # 143 (direction Bocklemünd). The bus stop is located opposite the crossroads on Subbelrather Straße. Get off at stop Goldammerweg.
• Walk (for approx. 15 min.) straight on Vogelsanger Straße and Carl-von-Linné-Weg (cross railway lines and motorway, pass farm on the right-hand side, cross Belvederestr.).

or

• Take city train "S12" (direction Sindorf), get off at stop Köln Ehrenfeld (regional train station).
• Change here for bus #141 (direction Vogelsang) or bus # 143 (direction Bocklemünd). The bus stop is located next to the rear exit of the regional train station. Get off at stop Goldammerweg.
• Walk (for approx. 15 min.) straight on Vogelsanger Straße and Carl-von-Linné-Weg (cross railway lines and motorway, pass farm on the right-hand side, cross Belvederestr.).

Fare: 2.30 Euro (button 1b)

By car

Motorway A1 (north): Take the Bocklemünd exit (# 102), turn left at crossroads, drive along Venloer Straße, direction Köln-Zentrum. After approx. 2 km turn right at crossroads, drive along "Militärring". After approx. 1 km turn right and follow the signs to the Max Planck Institute.

Motorway A1 (south): Take the Lövenich exit (# 103), turn right at crossroads, drive along Aachener Straße, direction Köln-Zentrum. After approx. 1 km turn right towards direction A1 (north), A57 (north), Ossendorf, (Militärring). Turn left at next crossroads (T crossing), take the third exit and follow the signs to the Max Planck Institute.

By taxi

From Cologne/Bonn Airport to the institute: approx. 40 Euro.
From Düsseldorf Airport to the institute: approx. 70 Euro.
From Cologne main train station to the institute: approx. 20 Euro
