John Innes Centre and The Sainsbury Laboratory, Norwich, UK
JIC is an independent, international centre of excellence in plant science and
microbiology in Norwich, UK. JIC carries out fundamental research and makes the
findings available to society. The scientific research at the centre makes use of a
wide range of disciplines in the biological and chemical sciences, including cell biology,
biochemistry, chemistry, genetics, molecular biology, computational and mathematical biology.
The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL) is a company of approximately 70 research scientists and support
stuff and is located at the JIC. JIC and TSL are closely linked with the university of East Anglia
and are members of the Norwich research park. With over 100 PhDs, JIC and TSL has one of the largest
graduate schools for plant and microbial sciences in the country.
